LTA construction for web release lsConstruction has begun on two Neyer Properties projects at the $50 million, 75-acre Highlands mixed-use development in West Chester.

Highlands Market Square, a 15,750 square foot, multi-use retail plaza, and the Learning Tree Academy daycare center, both located in Highlands at I-75 and Cincinnati-Dayton Road, are expected to be finished by December, 2008. Cost of construction is $4.5 million.

Upon completion of this phase of construction, there will be nine buildings on the campus with over 300,000 square feet built to date, said Charlie Pond, Neyer Properties building development director. The entire Highlands development, anchored by a Wal-mart Supercenter, is expected to be finished by 2010.

A 12,000 square foot retail center plaza fronting Cincinnati-Dayton Road is 100 percent leased. Those tenants are: Complete PetMart; Great Clips; Sherwin-Williams; and Double-Decker.
Other Highlands retail outlot tenants include: Mike’s Car Wash; National City Bank; Wendy’s; Marathon; and Arby’s.

“There is considerable interest in this next retail phase from additional well-known retail chains as well as local entrepreneurs.” said Neyer Properties marketing manager Susan Chapin.

Debbie Dennis, Learning Tree operations manager, said the 10,500 square foot daycare center will be for infants through five years old. The Learning Tree is a private, family-owned business that will offer the 4C state-approved curriculum for each age group in the morning, with a hot lunch and naptime every day. A fenced and landscaped area for children is planned.

The Dennises, who live in Colerain Township, were helping their daughter search for a daycare center in West Chester, but found they were all full. They looked at West Chester demographics and decided it was a good place to open their own daycare center. They have owned several small businesses in Colerain over the years.
