In 1894, Dan’s grandfather, Alphonse Neyer, founded Al. Neyer (now Merus), beginning a 125-year legacy of design and construction projects that gave shape (literally) to the streets and skyline of Greater Cincinnati.
Ever infused with a relentless German work ethic, Dan spent evenings and weekends riding the first wave of the American house-flipping while working at his grandfather’s company as a young adult. Often working on properties no one else would touch, Dan honed his “natural gut for real estate.” In 1995 launched Neyer Properties with a vision to transform communities through real estate.
Since then, Dan has overseen an extensive list of accomplishments, including the development of over 3,000 acres and more than 800 building projects totaling well over $3.0 billion in value. Under his leadership, the Neyer Properties team has grown into a fully integrated firm managing sustainable land and building developments across the country.
For Dan, awards and accolades—like his induction into the Midwest Real Estate News Hall of Fame—are far less important than the adrenaline rush of finding and closing the right deal. But his real motivation? A relentless pursuit to find the “absolute right use” for a property, often seeing opportunity where others see only obstacles.
Whether it’s reimagining the historic Baldwin Building as a landmark headquarters or launching Torque Motor Suites in 2024—a state-of-the-art “third space” for luxury vehicle enthusiasts—Dan’s career is built for the turnaround.
A self-declared serial entrepreneur and adrenaline junkie, Dan’s passions outside of work include birthday challenges of extreme physical feats and maintaining close relationships with his wife, two adult children, and grandchild. Whether he’s in the boardroom or on a bike, Dan remains fiercely committed to the idea that real estate development is, at its heart, relationship development.
