Jake Nelson

Financial Analyst
The biggest secret to Jake’s success so far is being infinitely curious and as intentional as possible day in and day out, operating under the assumption that growth, knowledge, and wisdom is a lifelong marathon without shortcuts.

While attending the University of Cincinnati, Jake worked with the university’s Real Estate Services and Community Development department to kickstart his growth in the local real estate community. There, he learned the ins-and-outs of UC’s relationships with the likes of UC Health, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and The Cincinnati Port—some of the largest public and private organizations in the region.

Joining Neyer Properties has fostered his curiosity of how capital flows through the CRE ecosystem, working with all asset types across the entire real estate lifecycle: from ground-up development to stabilized, long-term operating properties. Having the opportunity to be exposed to the development component of our company, along with the core operating properties that support our development efforts, is one of Jake’s favorite parts of the job.

He began his career with Neyer focusing on the management and reporting of our loan portfolio. Over the years, his role has evolved to also include a broad exposure to our development projects, internal treasury management, underwriting of potential investments, and supporting the disposition of various investments. Jake’s day-to-day work is primarily a mix of preparing and presenting internal reporting for various investment components of the company, creating new insights or processes that help strengthen the company’s financial operations, evaluating the performance of various projects, or working on proposals to remediate identified inefficiencies.

Jake’s favorite memory from his time here is something he never lets us forget: winning the annual chili cookoff his first year participating, placing 2nd the following year, and reclaiming the title of winner the year after that!

Most of Jake’s time outside the office is spent refining his golf game, but he also enjoys spending time with his friends & family and strengthening his skills in the kitchen. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find him on the golf course, grabbing coffee at one of the local Deeper Roots locations (yes, they know his name & order), or heading to Trader Joe’s to gather ingredients to prepare a nice dinner for the evening.
