John thrives on problem-solving, digging into complex challenges, and helping people find clarity and solutions. He may not be pinning clues to a corkboard with red string, but he’s still connecting the dots—just in a different way.
John discovered his passion for real estate while studying finance at UC, realizing the field aligned more closely with his interests than traditional finance roles. He expanded his degree to include real estate, drawn to its entrepreneurial, results-driven nature. Today, John has 25 years of broad commercial real estate experience, with a particular focus on leasing, brokerage, finance, and investments.
In his role, he leads all Leasing department initiatives, working to attract and retain tenants across the company’s over 6 million square foot portfolio of office, industrial, and retail properties. One of John’s favorite aspects of his job is building meaningful relationships with the wide range of people he interacts with each day. When reaching out to tenants, he always asks, “Is your current real estate supporting your goals?”—a question that reflects his commitment to helping businesses optimize their space and achieve their objectives. With a strong understanding of how to drive value for everyone involved, John spends his days jumping between lease negotiations and strategy sessions with tenants of all sizes, from national corporations to local mom-and-pop shops. Additionally, he is responsible for crafting and implementing the overall strategy to optimize the financial performance of each asset in our portfolio.
After joining Neyer Properties in 2021 as Senior Asset Manager, he became Director of Leasing and Asset Strategy the following year. Over the past five years, John has developed a deep understanding of how the company approaches deals, allowing him to work more autonomously and efficiently. He has earned strong internal trust in deal-related decisions and has taken on a greater role in acquisitions and dispositions. In both areas, Neyer is in the position to be opportunistic—able to be selective, entrepreneurial with the deployment of capital, and strategic about when to buy or sell based on a property’s lifecycle rather than necessity.
Outside the office, John can usually be found doing classic dad activities, like driving his children to school and wrangling them together for their various activities. When he manages to carve out a quiet moment for himself, he enjoys playing guitar and practicing yoga.
One of his favorite parts of living in Cincinnati is being right off Hyde Park Square. John loves the walkable, community-focused environment and the easy access to local shops and businesses.
